Yesterday I was watching some YouTube Detailers and their method of upselling. I found it upsetting to find that many mobile detailers decide to upsell after giving an initial quote when it’s not necessary. This particular detailer quoted a vehicle’s interior at $330 and went up to $400 for just the interior to be detailed with 3 people on the job. This is actually insane and a scam. The labor even if billing at 125 an hour would only be about $300. This means that 25% of the cost would be pure greedy profit. While as a business owner it is my duty to pursue profits to some extent, this is not a sound long-term business strategy. This business model goes from being a great service to being a great salesperson.

This is where people get scammed. When you have a business with clout and decent quality, you can get scammed a lot more than a small business that you are already questioning the credibility of. With Clarity Car Washing, I envision an In-N-Out and Amazon-type business model when at full scale. By this I mean the logistics of Amazon mixed with the quality at scale of In-N-Out. This is where the magic happens. When we can train quality service in our employees and manage our mobile units effectively to make sure we are always on time with arriving and completion.
