Vacuuming

Vacuuming is a point of interest for clients as it is the most important part of detailing a vehicle. If a vehicle is not properly vacuumed before it is detailed it will spell disaster for the person detailing it. There are different levels of vacuuming:

  1. vacuuming to remove dirt

  2. vacuuming to remove hair

  3. vacuuming to remove sand

  4. vacuuming to remove stains

Vacuuming is the same thing as extracting. When we are vacuuming we are extracting contaminants from the vehicle. When we are dry vacuuming we are extracting dirt, hair, or sand. When we are wet vacuuming we are extracting stains. This is where the points of inflection are.

Dirt is best removed while dry because when you saturate a carpet with dirt on it you will dampen the material and make it go deeper into the fabric.

When vacuuming hair, it is best while dry because the hair is not going to adhere to the fabric as well if it’s wet.

Vacuuming to remove sand is best when dry because the sand will turn into mud if wet. If the sand is like mud, it will embed into the fabric more than if dry.

Stains are pre-saturated materials that have been embedded into the fabric and thus must be reverted back to the form in which it was made a stain in order to be removed.

Vacuuming can remove dirt very easily. hair and sand must be agitated with dry methods like compressed air or brushes.

This is the difference between detailing and vacuuming.
